| About Us |
FMFC consists mainly of ex-schoolmates from Tanjong Katong Sec Sch '03, Meridian JC '05 and Tampines JC '05. Formed in 2003 by 13 close friends who shared a strong common interest in football, we started off by wearing Real Madrid's replica home jerseys as our kit, hence the name Fake Madrid. As we went our separate ways into tertiary education, weekly football sessions either on the field or on the court ensured our development as a team and more importantly, that we remain close friends. We also made new friends and teammates in our new schools, prompting us to challenge ourselves by playing in an amateur league. In 2007, FMFC made ourselves known by winning the inaugural SAFRA League, holding off challenges from stronger and far more experienced teams.
We usually play a 4-5-1 formation, which we feel is a very versatile formation as we are able to change to 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 if we see the need to.
The main strength of FMFC has to be the understanding between one another, developed after years of playing together, and the willingness to fight for one another. FMFC adopts the doctrine of the passing game and we try to implement it in all our matches.
Having been promoted from Div 3 of the D2D Sat 5pm league as champions, we are looking forward for the new challenge that awaits us in Division 1. No doubt, the quality of the teams in season 5 is of a high standard and we hope to give a good showing of ourselves this coming season.
Lastly, we pride ourselves with having good conduct on the field and teams that are thinking of organizing friendlies with us can be rest assured that we take fair play very seriously. We recognize that passion and aggression are worlds apart and prefer to let football do the talking. Ultimately, we all love this sacred game and hope to meet other like-minded teams out there.
