Irrawaddy FC was originally formed in 2009 by a group of Myanmar national (group known as Myanmar Engineering Alumni) in Singapore, and the club was first known as a team plying every weekend without Team name . The name was soon formed to Irrawaddy FC, when the club turned GA League team in 2011 and the name became Irrawaddy Football Club. Irrawaddy Dolphin is the logo of team crest and was given as Team Nickname.
Irrawaddy FC was elected to the Sunday PM Northern division 2nd season of the GA Football League, Singapore in 2011, and gained highest points of that period in opening match having edged past Pondok Boyz FC with score line 4-2.
