Our OPOD featured player this week is ESPZEN Saturday League’s Crescent Rangers forward Danesh Laino. The 22 year-old has always featured prominently at the top of the goalscoring charts for the Rangers in each of the past 3 seasons, and although not the flashiest of players on the pitch, appears to get the job done.

Born in Italy but raised in Singapore (currently a PR), Laino’s past playing experience locally includes representing his Pasir Ris Secondary school team, ITE College East, Tampines Rovers U-18 (2006) as well as playing socially with NFL’s Elias Park FC, although his non-citizenship prevents him from playing competitively in the NFL.

Having formerly worked as a coach as well in Paul Masefield’s Little League, Laino certainly possesses a very good command of the basics of the beautiful game and has excelled on the pitch thus far in the teams which he has played for.

Having played for about 3-4 years with his current team, Crescent Rangers, which is made up predominantly of his close friends as well, Laino will certainly look to fire his side to title glory this season, although the re-emergence of former champions ISA will make his task that much more difficult.
