With European football clubs targeting the lucrative Asian market for financial and promotional returns, pre-season tours in Asia have been a regular affair for European football clubs before the start of their football season.
In the Soccerex Asian Forum recently, La Liga CEO Francisco Roca Perez said that he believes pre-season tours can act as a catalyst for raising the standard of football in Asian countries.
From a long term standpoint, the La Liga is looking at promoting benefits for both parties, which includes raising the quality of football at Asian countries. For that to work, he believes it is important to work with the local football community here.
He also highlighted that there is a chance European teams will scout and add talented Asian players to their team roster in the future.
‘’There are genuine opportunities for these big European teams to scout for local talent in the future. This is a trend we may see in the long run. Asia is capable of nurturing world class players.’’
