THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED DERBY ENDED IN A STALEMATE AS BOTH TEAMS SHARED THE SPOILS IN WHAT WAS A FAIR
RESULT FOR BOTH TEAMS.
G2 and PFC came into this clash knowing that they had to do serious business and had all to play
for. One had to win to stand a good chance to get automatic promotion at the expense of a playoff,
while another needed all the points available to avoid facing the playoff to stay in the division.
Either way, it proved to be a game worth the money for all the spectators.
PFC was evidently more prepared and eager to get the better of their oppositions as they strung good
passes across the field right from the start and pressed hard at the opposition’s final third of the
field. G2 found it hard to breathe and at times had to clear desperately to the touchline in an
attempt to slow the game down.
But it was far from enough as PFC grabbed the lead just before half time through a corner which was
tapped in from 6 yards. It showed no sense of urgency in G2 players which lead to the goal and the
stand in custodian was incensed by the defending.
Within the next kick, Player-Manager QJ produced a sucker punch to lob the ball over G2’s custodian
after dispossessing the ball from the opposition in the middle of the park. 2-0 PFC.
Half Time 0-2
Captain XW pointed out that we had to be aware of the surroundings and be more flexible, and wanted
all of us to buck up in the second half.
Manager 5 was sent on and several tactical changes were made.
G2 produced a much better display in the second half as they started to win more balls and created
more chances. Chances went begging one after another as G2 somehow failed to capitalize on defensive
lapses from the opposition.
Manager 10 came in with 10 minutes remaining hoping to do some magic. Indeed, like “Fabregas”, he
made his presence felt almost immediately. Firstly, he gave an inch perfect pass that sent speedy W
through on goal, which the latter made no mistakes in dispatching the ball to the bottom right. 1-2.
After the restart, 10 got the ball back and sent yet another fabulous ball for W, who sped down the
flank, only to be brought down in the box. Gan coolly slotted the spot kick to the right. 2-2.
THE END.
