OPOD News Centre – Having captured a Semi Final berth in the Singtel Cup previously, a motivated Singapore Vikings FC translated their excellent cup form into their league season by claiming a magnificent 4-0 win over Rangers FC. With top goalscorer Ramus Bach missing from the starting lineup, Singapore Vikings FC was expected to struggle in front of goal initially.
Surprisingly, the Scandinavian side proved doubters wrong when strike duo Charni Trubka and Mikkel Falsig combined excellently to give them a deserving 1-0 lead in the first half. Charni Trubka unleashed a beautiful through ball for Mikkel Falsig to latch onto. With poise and composure, the former bagged his first goal by slotting the ball past an onrushing Rangers’ goalkeeper. A demoralized Rangers FC never looked like making a comeback into the game as the Scandinavian side strived to gain control in the game by adding more goals.
Subsequently, Charni Trubka landed the third goal when Thomas Domino Andersen demonstrated his playmaking abilities once again by setting up the former with a nicely executed pass to convert his sixth goal. Midfielder Marco Rasmussen ensured Singapore Vikings FC walked away with maximum points by scoring the fourth goal for them.
Reigning champions SCC Firsts is edging closer to retain their title as they eased past Hollandse FC 5-1. Forward Robert Chinedu put up an inspiring performance in front of goal as he single handedly led SCC Firsts to their twentieth win with a hat trick. Casuals FC lost ground in the title race after slipping to a 2-1 defeat against Swiss FC.
Japanese striker Daisuke Ota increased his goal tally to 23 goals courtesy of his brace for FC Nippon in a 2-0 win over Ricciotti Internationals. Goals from Alexandre Chain and Nicolas Chapelain ensured Olympique Gaulois shared the spoils with German All Stars Singapore in a 2-2 draw. A spectacular performance from Latini FC saw them cruise past Pulau Ubin FC in a 11-0 win.
