ESPZEN 8th Anniversary Community Knock Out Cup, has been launched to celebrate ESPZEN 8th anniversary of revolutionising the amateur football scene in Singapore. ESPZEN is sponsoring this event to lower the match fee cost to levels never seen before in the Singapore Amateur Football Market. All teams who enter this tournament will be charged only SGD90 per game played, with no registration / entrance fees. The lower fees removes barriers of entry for many teams and will engage the community at large.
Existing ESPZEN teams will have the chance to compete against teams from other divisions and external teams, whilst teams not currently registered with ESPZEN have the chance to test their level by competing against teams established in the ESPZEN league.
The tournament will be a straight knock out format, with no handicap. In case of a draw extra time and then penalties will take place.
By registering for this tournament all teams will be committing to a minimum of 2 games (as all teams knocked out in the 1st round will automatically be entered into the Plate tournament). The plate tournament will be also be a knock out format and the last 4 teams standing will play in the Plate Tournament “Qualifying Semi Final”, the winners of these two games will then play in the Plate tournament Semi Final against the two losing teams from the Cup tournament proper.
The first game for this tournament is likely to be in Feb 2012 in order to allow non ESPZEN teams time to inform their current organiser (if any) on a certain weekend their team will NOT be available. Games will take place on a Sunday as the official match day. Subsequent games will take place once a month to manage the availability of all participating teams.
NON ESPZEN registered teams must register their teams participation via the ESPZEN website, and only once payment of SGD180 is received (payment for the first two games) will the team be entered into the Cup.
Given the heavy subsidy provided by ESPZEN, it is expected many non ESPZEN teams will be scrambling to register for this tournament, as such places are limited and we operate on a first come first serve basis.
