ESPZEN Round-up: Team Intense denied winning start in 2012

OPOD News Centre – Team Intense were denied a winning start in 2012 after an excellent League of Champions campaign as Fake Madrid edged them 2-1 at Temasek Secondary School in Division 1. YSOSRS FC consolidated second place by hitting seven goals past Standard Chartered Bank FC 7-0 whilst El Retador FC bagged their second victory with a solitary goal against Stamford FC.

In Division 2, RockU FC landed their first win in 2012 courtesy of a 3-1 win over Sengkang Rangers FC. Big Belly FC failed to overtake Sengkang Rangers on the top as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Real Ale Madrid FC. In Division 3, Eclectico FC stormed to their third victory by handing Phoenix United FC a 4-0 rout. AC Fate FC failed to break out of the relegation zone as they salvaged a 2-2 stalemate against Royal City Avenue FC.

In the lower tiers, British Club FC consolidated third place after trouncing Premier FC 6-0 in Division 4 whilst BNP PARIBAS Sports Club moved to within a single point of TheSailors FC in Division 5’s title race by defeating Mariners_11 FC 2-0. 

In the ESPZEN Sunday League, with Aioli United clinching a superb 4-1 win over FC PROTÉGÉ ESPZEN, Racing FC and Armanis FC remained in the running for the title after overcoming Gabrielite Remix FC and Nasrin FC with the respective scorelines of 1-0 and 4-3 in Division 1. In Division 2, Greats FC broke into the top four by defeating Admiralz FC 3-1 whilst Barbarians FC retained third place after holding FC Venom to a 2-2 draw.

In Division 3, Team H FC failed to land their sixth victory by salvaging a 1-1 draw against FC MYK. YDM UTD FC capitalized on Team H’s slip as they increased their lead in the title battle to seven points by defeating The Usual Suspects FC 1-0. In Division 4, ESPZEN Primero FC recovered from their defeat to Holland Park XI previously thanks to their 3-2 win against FC Socheaux. Benedetto United FC are setting their sight on a mid table finish as they handed Team Prodigy a 3-0 rout.

In Division 5, champions James Cook University Singapore FC continued to impress in 2012 by defeating Deportivo Singapura 6-2 whilst the promotion race intensifies as VNNTU FC and Team Frankel FC defeated the likes Raptors FC and White Wolfton FC with the respective scorelines of 4-3 and 4-2.

In Division 6, Purple Monkeys FC overtook Swat FC on the top based on their superior goal difference record after defeating FC El Leon 3-1. In Division 7, InnerCircle FC failed to break into the top four as they shared the spoils with Poseur United 3-3. In Division 8, New Olympique Singapore FC gained a slight advantage over Entertainers FC in the title race by cruising past ESPZEN Gogooryo FC 11-2. In Division 9, Liberty Spirits FC are three points behind British Exiles Sunday FC in the title race after edging Westlanders FC 4-2.

In the lower tiers, Homewest United FC kept their slim promotion hopes alive courtesy of a 5-3 win against Royals FC in Division 10 whilst Joga Bonito FC closed in on Project Intensify FC in Division 11’s title battle by trouncing Ba Da Bing Ba Da Bong FC 4-0.   

In the ESPZEN Midweek League, German All Stars Singapore preserved their rich vein of form thanks to a 1-0 win over Blue Troopers FC whilst VFA FC are looking to break into the top four after handing Indomitable Lions FC a 3-0 rout.
