FAA All Stars Move Up To Third
Reported by: FAA Correspondent

Safra Tampines - An entertaining game with goals aplenty on show as FAA All Stars edged past FC92 and carry on their march up the table as the boys kept up their third consecutive victory.

Starting with eight men, FC 92 did the unthinkable by taking the lead when a long floating ball behind the sleeping defence allowed the player to skip past the offside trap to volley into the bottom corner.

FAA got back on level terms six minutes later from the spot when Ammar Rizqullah was brought down on the edge of the box, leaving the referee with no chance but to point to the spot. Aarulselven picked his spot and put it into the side, sending the goalkeeper to the wrong side.

FAA All Stars then raced ahead with two quick fire goals from Aarul to complete his hat trick, with the second goal scored after a cross was fumbled by the goalkeeper leaving Aarul with the easy touch to
toe poke the ball into the roof of the net.

With more players coming on to make up eleven, FC 92 came back stronger and tested the goalkeeper with a couple of long range effort.

They reduced the deficit later on when another poor defending saw a through ball played down the
middle leaving the FC 92 striker to race through to beat the keeper, Wan Shaifulrezza from close range.

Another goal from FAA saw the boys retain their two goal lead going into the half time break. A rare
appearance from Head Coach Ahmad Paijan gave the team the much needed motivation when Aarul set up a nice pass to Ahmad Paijan and he rolled back to the good old days by passing the ball into the net under no pressure.

Lucky Break

The boys came out of the break with five defenders, leaving the defence with the easier task to contain
the two deep lying forwards and tracked their runs.

FC 92 replied in the 54th minute when the FC 92 winger on the right was brought down in the box by the
trailing leg of Fitri Huzaimi leaving the referee to point to the spot for the second time of the game.

Wan Shaifulrezza guessed the correct side but could not do much as the ball squirm underneath his
flailing arm. Coach Liyu scored his second goal of the season with a huge slice of luck when a tamed shot from Coach Liyu came off the back of a FC 92 player before going the other side of the goalkeeper into the net.

FC 92 threatened to make a brilliant comeback draw when they pulled back 5-4 after the defence was
left exposed again but with the failure of the goalkeeper to rush off his line saw the left winger cut into
the box before slotting a pass across for the FC 92 striker to tap in from close range.

But the pressure from FC 92 towards the end of the game could not result into an equalizing goal and
FAA was able to see the game through to the relief of the players.

MOTM: Ahmad Paijan, Rolled back the days of the 1970s and showed the boys the way of keeping composure and scoring a brilliant goal to his name.
