OPOD News Centre – In the Premier Division, league leaders Siglap CSC continued their assault on the divisional title with an impressive 7-1 win against Kool N the Gang. The lastest win sees them open up a 6 point lead at the top of the table, with title rivals British Club First XI dropping points over the weekend in a 0-0 stalemate with Titans NFC at Bukit Timah.
Club M recorded a 5-1 thumping of the league’s whipping boys Olympique Gaulouis to stay in touch at the top, within a point of British Club in third place.
The Saints and St Andrews’ were both away from match action this weekend.
In Qualifying Division action, leaders Questra Vipers strengthened their hold on the division’s title race, disposing of Newton Heath with a 5-2 win. The result sees the Vipers surge clear of their rivals, with quartet JSSL Arsenal, Hibernians United, British Club 2nd XI and Newton Heath all looking set to battle it out for the other two promotion play-off places.
Team Orange dealt British Club 2nd XI’s promotion hopes a huge blow when they defeated the British 3-1 at Bukit Timah, handing the initiative back to JSSL Arsenal and Hibernians United. The Hibs were themselves held by MDIS in a 2-2 stalemate earlier, and failed to make their chances count, missing a penalty which could have earned them all 3 points in their chase for promotion.
At Marsiling Secondary, Happyfeet got back to winning ways against the league’s bottom side Rampant Lions, winning 4-1 to move within 5 points of Japanese outfit J-Heat, whom the Penguins will face in next week’s EFL encounter.
